Message<\/td>Born in Echizen City, I graduated from local schools, including Kunitaka Elementary School, the Third Junior High School of Takefu, and Takefu High School. I earned a B.A. in International Relations from Tsuda College, an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
I spent 12 years as a faculty member in Sociology at Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior, followed by 10 years as the Director of Institutional Planning, Assessment, and Research at Winona State University. While my husband and two cats remain at home in Minnesota, I am currently residing in Echizen City and working as an interpreter, high school English instructor, and temple priest.
I have a wide range of interests, including MS Excel, project management, yoga, Aikido, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
My initial connection with MI-LAB began when I served as an interpreter at the 2024 International Mokuhanga Conference in Echizen. Since then, I have become actively involved in MI-LAB\u2019s Artist-in-Residence programs, continually inspired by the passion and talent of Mokuhanga artists, instructors, and washi artisans. As an interpreter, I strive to facilitate meaningful intercultural communication.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
