Message<\/td>When I first began studying art, my focus was solely on oil painting. However, after enrolling in the printmaking program at university, I was introduced to a wide range of techniques that opened up new creative paths for me. Among them, water-based mokuhanga stood out with its unique charm.
What drew me in was the tactile nature of the process\u2014printing with a baren, which requires no machinery; the expressive beauty of woodgrain, which often adds unexpected depth and texture; and the use of water-based pigments, which are gentler on both the environment and the body.
Over time, I\u2019ve also enjoyed hearing the many different stories about how artists from all over the world discovered mokuhanga\u2014each journey is unique and inspiring. I look forward to sharing these stories and creating new ones together with participants in the residency program.<\/td><\/tr>
