Background<\/td>I began my journey in printmaking at Kyoto Seika University, where I studied under Professor Akira Kurosaki during both my undergraduate and graduate programs. In 2004, I earned my master\u2019s degree from the university\u2019s School of Art.
Over the years, I have worked across various creative disciplines\u2014as a graphic designer specializing in visual projects and creative design, as a photographer\u2019s assistant involved in on-site shoots and post-production editing, and as an art instructor at both high schools in Kyoto and Kyoto University of the Arts, teaching drawing, watercolor, graphic design, and portfolio preparation.
In 2024, I joined MI-LAB as an instructor and began teaching traditional Japanese water-based mokuhanga techniques.<\/td><\/tr>

Message to Participants<\/td>I discovered mokuhanga by accident. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a graphic designer and Kyoto Seika University was the only institution that accepted me. I enrolled in the printmaking program where I met Professor Akira Kurosaki. The expressive potential of mokuhanga captivated me\u2014and ultimately shaped the artist I am today. My work draws from both woodblock rubbings and photography.
My current teaching encompasses a wide range of mokuhanga techniques, including traditional methods such as urauchi (mounting), sumi-nagashi (marbling), and waxing. I also share my own process of integrating mokuhanga with photographic elements.
Recently I had the privilege of conducting mokuhanga workshops in Kyoto for participants from around the world. I deeply value the diverse perspectives international artists bring\u2014each encounter enriches my teaching and artistic practice. At MI-LAB, I look forward to fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.<\/td><\/tr>
