As a child, I dreamed of becoming a graphic designer and Kyoto Seika University was the only institution that accepted me. I enrolled in the printmaking program where I met Professor Akira Kurosaki. The expressive potential of mokuhanga captivated me—and ultimately shaped the artist I am today. My work draws from both woodblock rubbings and photography. My current teaching encompasses a wide range of mokuhanga techniques, including traditional methods such as urauchi (mounting), sumi-nagashi (marbling), and waxing. I also share my own process of integrating mokuhanga with photographic elements.Recently I had the privilege of conducting mokuhanga workshops in Kyoto for participants from around the world. I deeply value the diverse perspectives international artists bring—each encounter enriches my teaching and artistic practice. At MI-LAB, I look forward to fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. Websitehttps://www.asuka-tsutsumi.comInstagramasukatsutsumi_
