Open Call for the MI-LAB AIR in Echizen for 2026

We are pleased to announce the open call for the MI-LAB AIR 2026.

Mokuhanga Innovation Lab (MI-LAB) had been holding Artist-in-Residence programs of water-based woodblock printmaking techniques in Fujikawaguchiko-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture since 2011.

We moved to Echizen, Fukui Prefecture after the residency season of 2023 and started the new AIR season at our new studio in April, 2024. We welcomed 28 artists and 1 group of students in the last year. Thanks to them, we could finished all the AIR programs for 2024 successfully.
As you know, Echizen is one of the famous traditional production area of Japanese paper. We are offering paper making workshops in cooperation of the Udatsu Crafts Center and some other local paper mills. We are so excited to invite you to MI-LAB AIR for 2026!
